Evening Chronicle - A triumph for Trojans
Tynemet Trojans regained top spot in Local League Division One with a 91-78 victory over Sunderland Sharks.
The first quarter was close until six minutes, when good work from Alex Radu and Paul Campbell put the Trojans up by 10 points.Sunderland then pulled the game back, but three-pointers from Tom Higham enabled the North Tyneside team to regain the lead and they went into the half-time break leading 45-32.
A total team effort ensured their lead was extended to 68-52 and Paul Graham and Chris Kenny put their side further ahead in the fourth quarter - to 80-53 with only three minutes left.
The Trojans then eased off and good shooting by Sunderland closed the gap. However, this late revival came too late as the Trojans won.
The Tyne Metropolitan College-based team's last home game of the National League season is on Sunday against Sheffield Saints (3.00) at the Community Sports Centre's Coast Road Campus at Tyne Metropolitan College. Admission is free.
