The Tyne Metropolitan Trojans Basketball Club was officially launched on the 1st of April 2006 when they were accepted into the England Basketball National League Mens Division 4 North. The Club is based at Tyne Metropolitan College, Wallsend and in the 2008/9 season they will tip off at 7.00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The basketball club was started as there are many people within the community of Wallsend and North Tyneside which includes
ethnic minorities, women, students and young people that play basketball but have to travel out of the area in order to play
basketball. The clubs aim is to coach the
fundamentals of basketball to all ages, allow players to gain qualifications that are related to basketball and use
sessions for increasing peoples fitness and activity. Already there is a link to a local school/sports college set up as
well as links to local universities and support from the college to use their training facilities for practices and game days.
This season the club will play in pink strips provided by TSM sportswear to show support for the college's nominated charity - Coping with Cancer North East.
