Tyne Metropolitan Trojans Basketball Club has been running for over one year and are part of the North Tyneside Basketball Development Plan. We are based at Tyne Metropolitan College and are currently working in partnership with the local sports colleges providing outlets for those who are wanting to participate in basketball both recreationally and competitively. Since the club was formed we have ran 3 on 3 tournaments in the summer, several basketball camps in the half term holidays, a 5 on 5 tournament and a pre-season tournament for teams from around the North East of England. We have put 17 people through the table officials course and 13 through the level 1 referee qualification. We are planning to host festivals and tournaments for those in the community of all ages over the next year, and have just established a basketball academy. Next season we will be playing our second season in National League and the new league structure can be found here.
Accreditation
We have previously had meetings with North Tyneside Council, Tyne and Wear Sport and Newcastle Eagles Basketball Club to discuss our development plan and how it fits into the North Tyneside Basketball Plan. We are currently working towards England Basketball and Sport England Club Accreditation and Club Mark.
Volunteers
As the club starts its second year of National League Basketball we need helpers who can give some time or do small jobs to help the club develop in the right way. If you are such a person, and feel you can give some time on game days or have some skill or expertise that can help us, please let the club know.
